What do you associate withthe term "reflection"?Do you think of the physical phenomenain the "rebound" of light,sound and warmth or do you definethe word as a psychologicalprocess of mental considerationand critical review? Kathrin Inbal-Bogensberger and Tatiana Liakhtake inspiration from the reflectiveobservation of a musical work'sstructure and genesis and frombiographical features of it's composer'slife. At the same time, thephysical aspects of reflection areimportant to the work's exponentsif the acoustics of the performancevenue are to bring out the full effectof a composition. Notably, themirror image or inversion as a fullydeveloped form of reflection is afrequently employed musical techniqueat all periods. The space oftime in which this recording wasmade was shaped by the continuingCovid pandemic and the earlystages of the Ukraine war and demandedself-reflective qualities ofit's performers in their identity asinterpretative artists. The two artistsaccordingly saw the title of therecording, "Reflections", as a guidingthread governing the playersof the works, the works themselvesand the works' composers.
